In Genesis 31:36-55 Jacob and his 12 sons who would later become the 12 tribes of Israel seek to return home but the journey is interrupted by his father-in-law, Laban. Jacob and Laban ultimately strike a treaty that will begin to define the nation of Israel, its future and foundation for other societies. Jacob’s success will influence the priesthood of the nation and in the future the birth of Jesus Christ to save and bless the world.
